At the timing to start idling, when the total number of prints is determined to be less than a threshold Mth (No in S12), the fixing device executes idling with the rotation speed of the heating rotating body as V1, and when the total number of prints is equal to or more than the threshold Mth (Yes in S12) and when a heat storage index indicating a warming up degree of nip part forming members is equal to or more than Tth (Yes in S15), the fixing device sets the rotation speed of the heating rotating body to V2 faster than V1 (S16) before executing idling.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 10 【課題】定着回転体を空回転させるときのスティックスリップによる異音の発生を抑制しつつ、定着装置の短寿命化を可及的に防ぐ。【解決手段】加熱回転体と加圧回転体のニップ部に未定着トナー像が形成されたシートを通紙して、定着ジョブを実行する定着装置であって、空回転開始のタイミングにおいて、総印字枚数が閾値Mth未満と判定された場合には(S12でNo)、加熱回転体の回転速度をV1として空回転を実行するが、上記総印字枚数が閾値Mth以上の場合であり(S12でYes)、かつ、ニップ部形成部材の温まり具合を示す蓄熱指標値がTth以上の場合には(S15でYes)、加熱回転体の回転速度をV1より高いV2に設定して(S16)空回転を実行する。【選択図】図10
