To provide a sewage sludge fermentation raw material that can easily and stably promote fermentation without adjusting a composition according to a fermentation state each time.SOLUTION: A sewage sludge fermentation raw material of the present invention for aerobic fermentation treatment contains sewage sludge and hydrated lime, and contains 1.5 mass.pts or more and 2.5 mass.pts or less of the hydrated lime with respect to 100 mass.pts of the sewage sludge. It is also preferable that the sewage sludge fermentation raw material further contain a nutritional auxiliary material, and it is also preferable that the nutritional auxiliary material be contained in the amount of 5 mass.pts or more and 50 mass.pts or less with respect to 100 mass.pts of the sewage sludge.
