Summary:To provide a portable information device having a cover device that can be easily removed from a housing, the cover device, and a method for removing the cover device.SOLUTION: A portable information device includes a first housing, a second housing, and a cover device. The cover device includes a slide cover portion connected to the first housing using a slide mechanism, a stationary cover portion fixed to the second housing using a fixing member, and a bent cover portion that relatively rotatably connects between the slide cover portion and the stationary cover portion. The slide mechanism has a first slider component that is fixed to the slide cover portion and serves as one of a rail and a slider that are slidably connected to each other along the alignment direction, and a second slider component that is fixed to the first housing and serves as the other of the rail and the slider.
