Summary: | To provide a communication system capable of suppressing communication traffic and communication costs in communication between a server and a mobile body such as a vehicle via a mobile radio communication network (cellular network).SOLUTION: A communication system comprises: a plurality of mobile bodies; and a server for periodically performing information communication with a plurality of communication devices mounted on the plurality of mobile bodies via a base station for mobile communication. The communication system comprises: means that with respect to the plurality of mobile bodies, determines whether or not information on another mobile body located in its surroundings can be acquired via inter-mobile body direct radio communication; and means that with respect to at least a part of mobile bodies on which it is determined that the information on the other mobile body can be acquired via the inter-mobile body direct radio communication, out of the plurality of mobile bodies, changes periods of information communication between the server and communication devices of the at least a part of mobile bodies to longer periods.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 4
