Summary:To provide a plant design support system 100 that supports a designer's multipurpose decision making and quickly presents a candidate of an optimum three-dimensional arrangement solution on the basis of a few pieces of design information.SOLUTION: A plant design support system comprises: an input device 101 for inputting plant data including site data indicating conditions of a plant site and apparatus data indicating conditions of an apparatus to be arranged, desired level data indicating conditions to be achieved by plant design, and arrangement rule set data composed of a plurality of rules to be observed when arranging the apparatus; an arithmetic device 110 for crating arrangement solution data indicating an arrangement method of the apparatus corresponding to the apparatus data to the plant site corresponding to the site data; and an output device 102 for outputting the arrangement solution data stored in a storage device 120. The arithmetic device 110 includes an optimum solution search section 111 for searching an optimum arrangement solution by a genetic algorithm.
