To solve the problem that, when a sheet having a small self-weight is set on a tray, a rotating member disposed in a sheet detecting part cannot be rotated, and the presence/absence of a sheet cannot be detected.SOLUTION: A sheet feeding device comprises a tray for placing a sheet, a feeding roller for abutting and feeding the sheet, and a sheet detecting part for detecting the presence or absence of the sheet. The sheet detecting part has: a rotating member which abuts the sheet and is pressed against the sheet and is rotated; and a detecting sensor for detecting one end of the rotating member which is rotated, thereby detecting the presence or absence of a sheet. The rotating member has a shaft, and an abutting portion which comes into contact with the sheet to be placed. The tray has a support part for rotatably supporting the shaft of the rotating member. The support part and the shaft have a convex portion and a concave portion, respectively, in the cross sectional direction orthogonal to the axial direction of the shaft of the rotating member.
