Summary:To reduce the amount of unbalance of a rotor and thereby realize low noise and high durability.SOLUTION: A virtual image projection device 100 comprises: a display element 31; a projection optical system 33; a rotor 35 including a diffusion surface 52a; a drive motor 39 for causing the rotor 35 to rotate around a revolving axis; and a virtual image forming optical system 37 for converting an image on the irradiated diffusion surface 52a from the projection optical system 33 into a virtual image. The rotor 35 further includes a top cover 351 and a bottom cover 353 for covering a diffuser panel 352 and formed with a transparent material, the diffuser panel 352 being substantially circular when viewed from the direction of the revolving axis. When rotated around the revolving axis of the rotor 35, a plurality of diffusion surfaces 52a are sequentially arranged at different positions in the optical axis direction within the image forming range of the projection optical system, and the top cover 351 and the diffuser panel 352 are fitted to the drive motor 39.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 3 【課題】回転体のアンバランス量を低減することで、ひいては低騒音、および高耐久性を実現できる。【解決手段】虚像投影装置100は、表示素子31と、投影光学系33、拡散面52aを含む回転体35、回転軸周りに回転体35を回転させる駆動モーター39、および投影光学系33からの照射された拡散面52a上の像を虚像に変換する虚像形成光学系37とを備え、回転体35は、拡散板352を覆う、透明な材料で形成された、トップカバー351、およびボトムカバー353を、さらに含み、拡散板352は、回転軸方向から視た場合に、略円形状であり、回転体35の回転軸周りに回転させたときに、複数の拡散面52aは、投影光学系の結像範囲内において、前記光軸方向において異なる位置に順次配置され、トップカバー351、および拡散板352が、駆動モーター39と嵌合する構成である。【選択図】図3
