Summary: | To provide an endless belt that does not cause decrease in strength due to repeated fixing operation (heat shock) and does not cause a conductive path to gradually break and to increase resistance; and an electrothermal heating device employing the same.SOLUTION: An electrothermal heating device for heating a medium includes: an endless belt that rotates to generate heat when supplied with power; and first and second electrodes that are in contact with a base portion of the endless belt, extend in the axial direction of the endless belt, and are sequentially spaced in the rotational direction of the endless belt. The base portion of the endless belt contains a nanocomposite material with a carbon filler dispersed therein. A volume resistivity of the base portion of the endless belt in the rotational direction is less than a volume resistivity of the base portion of the endless belt in the axial direction.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 8
