To provide a gear stage determination device capable of determining a preferable gear stage of a stepped transmission in terms of fuel consumption efficiency with a realistic calculation amount.SOLUTION: A gear stage determination device determines a gear stage of a stepped transmission mounted on a vehicle. The gear stage determination device comprises: a storage section which stores a transmission line map representing a relation between vehicle speeds and gear stages; an identification section which identifies the gear stage corresponding to a predicted vehicle speed after a lapse of first time since the present on the basis of the transmission line map; an evaluation section which evaluates fuel consumption efficiency of a portion of a plurality of gear stages including the identified gear stage and other gear stages within a predetermined stages above and below the identified gear stage; and a determination section which determines the gear stage selected from the portion of the plurality of gear stages on the basis of the fuel consumption efficiency as the gear stage to be shifted from a current gear stage.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 2 【課題】燃費消費効率が好適な有段変速機のギア段を現実的な計算量で決定できるギア段決定装置を提供する。【解決手段】ギア段決定装置は、車両が備える有段変速機のギア段を決定する。ギア段決定装置は、車速とギア段との対応を表す変速線マップを記憶する記憶部と、変速線マップに基づいて、現在から第１時間経過後の予想車速に対応するギア段を特定する特定部と、複数のギア段のうち、特定したギア段と、その上下特定段数以内のギア段とを含む一部のギア段における、燃料消費効率を評価する評価部と、燃料消費効率に基づいて一部のギア段から選択したギア段を、現在のギア段から遷移させるギア段として決定する決定部とを備える。【選択図】図２
