Summary:To provide an imaging apparatus that has a pupil-in-pixel dividing function capable of reducing a power consumption, and a method of controlling the imaging apparatus.SOLUTION: An imaging apparatus has first pixels 200 each including a first photoelectric conversion part and a second photoelectric conversion part provided for one microlens, an amplifying circuit 403, and an analog-digital conversion circuit 409. The analog-digital conversion circuit 409 inputs a signal based upon photoelectric conversion of the first photoelectric conversion part not through the amplifying circuit 403, and stores a first digital value obtained by converting the input signal based upon the photoelectric conversion of the first photoelectric conversion part from analog to digital. The analog-digital conversion circuit 409 inputs signals based upon the photoelectric conversion of the first photoelectric conversion part and photoelectric conversion of the second photoelectric conversion part through the amplifying circuit 403, and stores a second digital value obtained by converting the input signals based upon the photoelectric conversion of the first photoelectric conversion part and the photoelectric conversion of the second photoelectric conversion part from analog to digital.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 4 【課題】消費電力を低減することができる画素内瞳分割機能を持つ撮像装置及び撮像装置の制御方法を提供する。【解決手段】撮像装置は、1個のマイクロレンズに対して設けられる第1の光電変換部と第2の光電変換部を含む第1の画素200と、増幅回路403と、アナログデジタル変換回路409と、を有する。アナログデジタル変換回路409は、増幅回路403を介さずに、第1の光電変換部の光電変換に基づく信号を入力し、入力した第1の光電変換部の光電変換に基づく信号をアナログからデジタルに変換した第1のデジタル値を記憶する。アナログデジタル変換回路409は、増幅回路403を介して、第1の光電変換部の光電変換と第2の光電変換部の光電変換に基づく信号を入力し、入力した第1の光電変換部の光電変換と第2の光電変換部の光電変換に基づく信号をアナログからデジタルに変換した第2のデジタル値を記憶する。【選択図】図4
