To provide a monitoring device and a method for monitoring that allow a user to get to know a sign or a tendency of a situation that is about to be an alarm state.SOLUTION: The monitoring device according to an embodiment includes an acquisition unit, a color density operation unit, and a display control unit. The acquisition unit acquires a first measurement signal value of a first monitor target. The color density operation unit operates the density of color between the maximum color density and the minimum color density of a specific color on the basis of a first measurement signal value so that the color density will change according to change in the first measurement signal value.
