Summary:To provide a joint structure which can prevent a gasket from being excessively fastened while achieving simplification of a joint member, and to provide an assembly method of the joint structure.SOLUTION: A joint structure 1 includes: a first joint member 2; a second joint member 4; a gasket 6 disposed between the first joint member 2 and the second joint member 4; and a retainer 7 which is attached to the outer periphery side of the first joint member 2 and holds the gasket 6. A butted end surface 24 of the first joint member 2 is provided with: a first contact area 25 with which the retainer 7 contacts; and a first projection 26 pressed to one end surface of the gasket 6.
