Summary:To provide a display device capable of having higher display quality.SOLUTION: A display device according an embodiment includes a first substrate, a second substrate, a liquid crystal layer held between the first substrate and the second substrate and containing stripe-shaped polymer and a first liquid crystal molecule with responsiveness to an electric field, a light source that emits light propagating in the first substrate, the second substrate, and the liquid crystal layer, and a transparent film disposed on at least one of an emission surface of the light emitted from the first substrate side and an emission surface of the light emitted from the second substrate side and containing a second liquid crystal molecule without responsiveness to the electric field.
