Summary:To provide a liquid ejection device in which a connection fluid channel can be easily filled with liquid, and a control method for the liquid ejection device.SOLUTION: A liquid ejection device comprises: a liquid ejection head 18 ejecting liquid; a liquid supply fluid channel 39 which has a liquid housing portion 39b housing the liquid; a feed pump 70 which feeds the liquid from the liquid housing portion 39b toward the liquid ejection head 18; a supply-side connection fluid channel 50 which connects a first supply connection portion 54 and a second supply connection portion 55 to each other in the liquid supply fluid channel 39; a supply-side branch fluid channel 51 which connects a third supply connection portion 56 provided in the supply-side connection fluid channel 50 and the liquid housing portion 39b to each other; a supply-side on-off valve 64 which is provided in the supply-side branch fluid channel 51, and can open/close the supply-side branch fluid channel 51; and a control unit which controls operation of the feed pump 70 and the supply-side on-off valve 64.
