Summary: | To obtain an image reading device and a method of the same that can easily expand the depth of field (improve the depth of field) without requiring basic characteristics of a lens body to be changed.SOLUTION: A lens body array and a slit unit are facing each other, and the length of the slit unit in a main scanning direction is adjusted to match an array cycle of cylinder members in the slit unit with an array cycle of lens bodies in the lens body array in the main scanning direction. The image reading device has a lens body array in which lens bodies are arrayed along the main scanning direction, a sensor element array in which sensor elements that receive light converged by the lens bodies are arrayed along the main scanning direction, respectively, and the slit unit that is disposed between the lens body array and the sensor element array and has a plurality of cylindrical members arrayed in the main scanning direction.
