To provide an image forming apparatus that can achieve both a reduction in initial operation time and extension of the life of a photoreceptor.SOLUTION: An image forming apparatus comprises: an operation unit that receives a command from a user; an image forming unit; an initial operation execution unit that executes predetermined initial operations of the image forming unit; and a control unit that controls the operation unit, the image forming unit, and the initial operation execution unit.
