Summary:To provide a process for oligomerization of olefins which entails the lowest possible capital costs.SOLUTION: There is provided a process for oligomerizing C2- to C8-olefins. The C2- to C8-olefins containing a proportion of more than 10 wt.% of alkanes is subjected to oligomerization in at least one reactor using a heterogeneous catalyst with a conversion of 60 to 95%, and a resultant reaction mixture is distilled in the at least one distillation column to separate the formed oligomers from a residual reaction mixture containing at least unconverted reactant olefins.
