Summary:To provide a safety device for a service vehicle that detects both concave and convex portions on a traveling surface G as a step and performs an emergency stop, despite its simple configuration.SOLUTION: As means for detecting a step on a traveling surface G, contact-type step detection means 60 of a limit switch type having a switch body 63 that is turned ON or OFF by an operating body 62 to output a step detection signal when a contactor 61 in contact with the traveling surface G, the operating body 62 to which the contactor 61 is connected, and the contactor 61 descend by a predetermined descending height Δ or more, is attached to a chassis 10 adjacent to a traveling device 40 on the rear side of an end 40a on the front side in the traveling direction of the traveling device 40 provided on the left and right sides of the chassis 10.
