Summary:To provide a fuel property detection device which can further accurately detect a cetane value of fuel for use in a diesel engine within a wider range from a low cetane value up to a high cetane value.SOLUTION: A fuel property detection device for detecting a cetane value of fuel on the basis of a torque equivalent amount which is generated by performing detection injection when a diesel engine is inertia-rotated while stopping fuel injection comprises: a detection injection timing correlation amount calculation part for calculating an injection timing correlation amount so that the fuel is ignited at a prescribed crank angle position; a detection injection amount calculation part for calculating an injection amount so that a torque equivalent amount which is generated in the case of the fuel having a reference cetane value reaches a reference torque equivalent amount; a storage part in which a cetane value/torque equivalent amount characteristic in which the torque equivalent amount corresponding to the cetane value is set is stored; a detection injection execution part for executing detection injection; and a cetane value detection part for detecting the cetane value on the basis of an actual torque equivalent amount which is generated at the detection injection, and the cetane value/torque equivalent amount characteristic.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 4 【課題】ディーゼル機関で用いる燃料のセタン価を、低セタン価〜高セタン価までより広い範囲にて、より高精度に検出することができる燃料性状検出装置を提供する。【解決手段】ディーゼル機関が燃料噴射を停止して惰性回転している際に検出用噴射を実行して発生したトルク相当量に基づいて燃料のセタン価を検出する燃料性状検出装置であって、所定クランク角度位置に着火するように噴射時期関連量を算出する検出用噴射時期関連量算出部と、基準セタン価の燃料の場合に発生するトルク相当量が基準トルク相当量となるように噴射量を算出する検出用噴射量算出部と、セタン価に応じたトルク相当量が設定されたセタン価・トルク相当量特性が記憶された記憶装置と、検出用噴射を実行する検出用噴射実行部と、検出用噴射にて実際に発生した実トルク相当量とセタン価・トルク相当量特性とに基づいてセタン価を検出するセタン価検出部とを有する。【選択図】図4
