To provide an image forming apparatus that can warn a user that a sheet is stored in the image forming apparatus in a wrong direction.SOLUTION: An image forming apparatus 100 comprises an image forming unit 20, a detection unit 30, and a display unit 40. The image forming unit 20 forms an image on a first surface P1 of a sheet P having the first surface P1 and a second surface P2. The detection unit 30 is located upstream of the image forming unit 20 in a sheet conveyance direction D and detects whether the image is formed on the first surface P1 of the sheet P.
