Summary:To excellently protect an ultrasonic element.SOLUTION: An ultrasonic sensor (1) includes an ultrasonic element (53) and an element accommodating case (4). The ultrasonic element is provided so as to be able to transmit or receive propagation waves which are ultrasonic waves propagating along a directional axis (DA). The element accommodating case (4) has a case diaphragm (44) which is a vibrating membrane or a diaphragm plate having a thickness direction along the directional axis, and is configured to form a resonance space (SC) of the propagating waves propagating between the case diaphragm and the ultrasonic element between the case diaphragm and the ultrasonic element by accommodating the ultrasonic element while separating the ultrasonic element from the case diaphragm. The element accommodating case has a horn shape in which the width of the resonance space in an in-plane direction orthogonal to the directional axis is tapered as it shifts to the axial direction parallel to the directional axis.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 3 【課題】超音波素子を良好に保護すること。【解決手段】超音波センサ(1)は、超音波素子(53)と素子収容ケース(4)とを備える。超音波素子は、指向軸(DA)に沿って伝播する超音波である伝播波を発信または受信可能に設けられている。素子収容ケース(4)は、指向軸に沿った厚さ方向を有する振動膜あるいは振動板であるケースダイアフラム(44)を有し、ケースダイアフラムから超音波素子を離隔させつつ超音波素子を収容することで、ケースダイアフラムと超音波素子との間を伝播する伝播波の共鳴空間(SC)をケースダイアフラムと超音波素子との間に形成するように構成されている。素子収容ケースは、指向軸と平行な軸方向に向かうにつれて、指向軸と直交する面内方向における共鳴空間の幅を先細りさせるホーン形状を有する。【選択図】図3
