To provide an optical member with which a thin image display device having an extremely excellent appearance can be achieved.SOLUTION: The optical member of the present invention includes a polarizer, a retardation film and a smoothing layer, in which a print layer is formed on a peripheral part of the retardation film. In one embodiment, the optical member includes the polarizer, the retardation film and the smoothing layer, in this order, in which the print layer is formed on the smoothing layer side of the retardation film.
