Summary:To enhance the reliability of a communication system using a superimposition signal.SOLUTION: A signal processing device for mediating communication between electrical equipment (6) operating downstream of a communication system (1) and an equipment control device (52, 52A, 3) for controlling one or more electrical equipment upstream includes a first computing unit (105) for generating a superposition target signal indicating at least first information, and a superimposition circuit (18) for generating a superimposition signal in which a superimposition target signal is superimposed on an operation signal corresponding to the state of an operation element (13) of the electric equipment or an operation signal for controlling the operation element. The first computing unit controls to generate no superimposition target signal while a second computing unit (605) for generating a superimposition target signal indicating at least second information is in an active state, and generate the superimposition target signal when the second computing unit is in a standby state.
