Summary:To solve a problem that defrosting operation time becomes long since even if a circulation pump 20 is stopped, water in a heating bypass pipe 23 is pulled by a flow of water supply during hot water supply operation to circulate hot water in a heating circulation circuit 19 and it is impossible to retain high-temperature water necessary for melting frost in heating means 16, when hot water supply is carried out during the defrosting operation for stopping the driving of the circulation pump 20, in a storage type water heater in which a short circuit passing through the heating bypass pipe 23 shares a part thereof with a water supply path of a water supply pipe 4.SOLUTION: A storage type water heater includes a switch valve 22 that switches a flow of hot water to a branch point from a heating returning pipe 18 to a heating bypass pipe 19, and a control device 24 having switch controlling means 25 controlling the switch valve 22. Switch valve controlling means 25, when defrosting operation is carried out, closes the switch valve 22 so as to prevent hot water from flowing to a heating bypass pipe 23 side.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 2 【課題】加熱バイパス管23を通る短絡回路が、給水管4の給水経路と一部を共用しているような貯湯式給湯機において、循環ポンプ20の駆動を停止する除霜運転中に給湯を行う場合は、循環ポンプ20を停止していても給湯運転時の給水の流れに加熱バイパス管23内の水が引っ張られて、加熱循環回路19内の湯が循環してしまい、霜を溶かすために必要な高温水を加熱手段16内に滞留させて置くことができず、除霜運転の時間が長くなってしまうという課題があった。【解決手段】加熱戻り管18から加熱バイパス管19への分岐点に温水の流れを切り替える切替弁22と、切替弁22の制御を行う切替制御手段25を有した制御装置24とを備え、切替弁制御手段25は、除霜運転が行われると、切替弁22を加熱バイパス管23側に温水が流れないように閉止するようにした。【選択図】 図2
