Summary:To return Li ions from a non-opposite region to an opposite region while suppressing deterioration of negative electrode active material.SOLUTION: A battery system includes a Li ion battery and a control device. The Li ion battery includes a positive electrode and a negative electrode. The negative electrode includes an opposite region and a non-opposite region. The opposite region faces the positive electrode. The non-opposite region does not face the positive electrode. Each of the opposite region and the non-opposite region includes first negative electrode active material and second negative electrode active material. The first negative electrode active material has first charging/discharging potential (P1). The second negative electrode active material has second charging/discharging potential (P2). The first charging/discharging potential (P1) is higher than the second charging/discharging potential (P2). The control device controls voltage of the Li ion battery so that the negative electrode is kept to have intermediate potential (Pm).
