To reduce time and labor of creating road shape data when displaying the road shape data on a driving simulator or the like, and improve visibility at a short distance from a driver's seat and display quality of the driving simulator or the like.SOLUTION: A road shape data processing method of the present disclosure sequentially includes: a data acquisition step S1 of acquiring road shape data representing a road shape as discrete points; and straight-line arc approximation steps S2-S5 of attempting to approximate the road shape data in perspective with straight lines and arcs, and attempting to approximate the road shape data more locally with straight lines and arcs when it is impossible to approximate road shape data in perspective with straight lines and arcs.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 2 【課題】本開示は、運転シミュレータ等に道路形状データを表示するにあたり、道路形状データの作成の手間を軽減するとともに、運転席から近距離での視認性及び運転シミュレータ等の表示画質を向上することを目的とする。【解決手段】本開示は、道路形状を離散点で表現する道路形状データを取得するデータ取得ステップＳ１と、道路形状データを大局的に直線及び円弧で近似することを試行し、道路形状データを大局的に直線及び円弧で近似することができないときには、道路形状データをより局所的に直線及び円弧で近似することを試行する直線円弧近似ステップＳ２〜Ｓ５と、を順に備えることを特徴とする道路形状データ加工方法である。【選択図】図２
