Summary:To provide a transmitter and a transmission method where demodulation is less likely to delay on the receiving side, and to provide a receiver unit and a reception method where demodulation is less likely to delay.SOLUTION: A transmitter transmits a first modulation signal and a second modulation signal while summing. First symbol number of the first modulation signal is equal to or less than the second symbol number of the second modulation signal. The first symbol number is a value obtained by dividing the larger one of a first bit number representing the unit of first interleave processing and a second bit number representing the code length of an error correction code of the first modulation signal, by the logarithm of first modulation multilevel number of the first modulation signal of 2 bottom signal, when the first modulation signal is subjected to first interleave processing, and is a value obtained by dividing the second bit number by the logarithm of first modulation multilevel number of the first modulation signal of 2 bottom, when the first modulation signal is not subjected to interleave processing.
