To prevent ink from adhering to a sensor when refilling ink.SOLUTION: A recording device is configured to scan a carriage mounted with a recording head for performing recording on a conveyed medium and an ink tank for storing ink to be supplied to the recording head, in a main scanning direction crossing a conveying direction in which the medium is conveyed. The ink tank has a pour-in port provided at an upper part of the ink tank, through which ink can be refilled and a prism disposed at a lower part of the ink tank. A sensor is provided which has an irradiating part, disposed below the carriage, which irradiates the prism with light and a light receiving part that receives light reflected from the prism.
