To provide a recording device capable of downsizing the recording device in a medium conveying direction while suppressing intrusion of dusts into a housing.SOLUTION: A recording device 11 comprises a medium placement part 21, a feeding mechanism 50, a recording part 70, a housing 12, and a reading unit 30. The reading unit 30 is provided above the housing 12, and includes a document feeding port 32, a conveying part 33, and a reading part 34. The medium placement part 21 includes a placement tray 14 capable of rotating between a closed position for covering a feeding port 22 and an open position capable of placing the medium. The housing 12 has an opening part 12B, for containing the placement tray 14 existing at the open position, at one side surface (back surface). A back cover 19 moves interlocked with the placement tray 14, and moves to the closed position for covering the opening part 12B when the placement tray 14 is closed, and to the open position for not preventing rotation of the placement tray 14 to be contained in the opening part 12B when the placement tray 14 is opened.
