Summary:To provide a device and method capable of detecting a turnout without being affected by a signaler existing in a railway facility and lighting in a station yard.SOLUTION: A turnout detection device can surely photograph a rail track 5 illuminated by infrared light illumination means 3 by an infrared camera 2 even in darkness without being affected by a signaler existing in a railway facility and lighting in a station yard, and detect the rail track 5 and a turnout 50 by image processing because of including the infrared light illumination means 3 for illuminating the front of a vehicle by infrared light, the infrared camera 2 for photographing the rail track 5 illuminated by the infrared light illumination means 3, an image input part 41b for inputting an image photographed by the infrared camera 2, a rail track detection part 41c for detecting the rail track 5 from the image inputted by the image input part 41b, and a turnout detection part 41d for detecting the turnout 50 from the image by using a position of the rail track 5 on the image detected by the rail track detection part 41c.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 3 【課題】鉄道設備内にある信号機や駅構内の照明による影響を受けることなく、分岐器を検出することのできる装置及び方法を提供するにある。【解決手段】車両前方を赤外光により照明する赤外光照明手段3と、赤外光照明手段3により照明された線路5を撮影する赤外カメラ2と、赤外カメラ2によって撮影された画像を入力する画像入力部41bと、画像入力部41bによって入力した画像から線路5を検出する線路検出部41cと、線路検出部41cにより検出した線路5の画像上の位置を利用して当該画像から分岐器50を検出する分岐器検出部41dとを備えるので、鉄道設備内にある信号機や駅構内の照明による影響を受けることなく、赤外光照明手段3により照明された線路5を赤外カメラ2により暗闇においても確実に撮影して、画像処理により、線路5や分岐器50を検出することができる。【選択図】図3
