To provide a vehicular operation input device that enables easier input of a desired setting value, and to provide a vehicular operation input method.SOLUTION: A vehicular operation input device D, which performs input to an on-vehicle device that performs a predetermined function at a plurality of levels, comprises: a display unit 1; an input position detection unit 2 having an operation surface corresponding to a first position on a display surface of the display unit, and that detects a second position input and operated on the operation surface; a display control unit 32 that controls the display unit 1; and an input content acquisition unit 33 that acquires, as an input content, a display content shown in the first position corresponding to the second position detected by the input position detection unit 2. The display control unit 32 shows a level setting display, indicative of setting of the levels. The input content acquisition unit 33 determines an amount of change on the basis of the number of second positions detected by the input position detection unit 2 in the level setting display when an input operation is performed for the level setting display.
