Summary: | To provide a gas diffusion layer in which gas diffusion resistance is low even during heavy load, and to provide a solid polymer type fuel cell using the same.SOLUTION: A gas diffusion layer includes a backing material composed of a porous conductive material (A), and a water repellent layer formed on one surface of the backing material, and containing conductive particles composed of a conductive material (B) and a water repellent material. The water repellent layer includes multiple open holes having a diameter d of 20 to 60 μm, and an interval p of 0.16 to 1.0 mm. The backing material has a thickness t of 70 to 300 μm. 【課題】高負荷時においてもガス拡散抵抗の低いガス拡散層、及びこれを用いた固体高分子形燃料電池を提供すること。【解決手段】ガス拡散層は、多孔質の導電性材料(A)からなる基材と、前記基材の一方の面に形成された、導電性材料(B)からなる導電性粒子と撥水性材料とを含む撥水層とを備えている。前記撥水層は、直径dが20μm超60μm以下であり、間隔pが0.16mm以上1.0mm以下である複数の貫通穴を備えている。基材は、厚さtが70μm以上300μm以下である。さらに、ガス拡散層は、α値(=(d/2[mm])1.2×D[mm-2]×(t[mm])-0.5、D[mm-2]は、前記貫通孔の数密度)が0.79以上32以下である。【選択図】図3 |
