To provide a mat material capable of sufficiently maintaining a temperature of an exhaust gas treating body of an exhaust emission control device and sufficiently suppressing heat radiation from the exhaust emission control device.SOLUTION: A mat material has a first main surface and a second main surface on the side opposite to the first main surface. The mat material comprises: a first mat disposed on the first main surface side; a second mat disposed on the second main surface side; and a metallic foil disposed between the first mat and the second mat.
