To provide an oil-in-water type emulsion composition for hair having compatibility during application, usablity without flowing down from hands and excellent smoothness and gloss feeling of hair while having excellent stability with time.SOLUTION: There is provided an oil-in-water type emulsion composition for hair which comprises the following components (A) to (E): (A) a mono long-chain type alkyl quaternary ammonium salt, (B) a saturated higher alcohol, (C) a dimethylpolysiloxane, (D) a phospholipid and (E) 0.1 to 0.5 mass% of a polyoxyethylene hydrogenated castor oil, where the ratio (A)/[(D)+(E)] of the content of the component (A) to the total content of the component (D) and the component (E) is 1.67 to 7.5.SELECTED DRAWING: None 【課題】経時安定性に優れながら、塗布時のなじみやすさ、手から流れ落ちない使用性、毛髪の滑らかさとツヤ感に優れた毛髪用水中油型組成物を提供すること。【解決手段】 次の成分 （Ａ）〜（Ｅ）；（Ａ）モノ長鎖型アルキル四級アンモニウム（Ｂ）飽和高級アルコール（Ｃ）ジメチルポリシロキサン（Ｄ）リン脂質（Ｅ）ポリオキシエチレン硬化ヒマシ油 ０．１〜０．５質量％を含有し、前記成分（Ｄ）および前記成分（Ｅ）の合計含有量に対する前記成分（Ａ）の含有量の割合（Ａ）／［（Ｄ）＋（Ｅ）］が、１．６７〜７．５である毛髪用水中油型組成物。【選択図】なし
