Summary:To provide an elevator type parking device capable of reducing the weight of a cage by installing an elevating/turning device on a loading/unloading floor even when the loading/unloading direction of a vehicle on the loading/unloading floor is different from the storage direction of the vehicle on a storage shelf, and allowing a user to safely walk on the loading/unloading floor at the time of loading/unloading, and its operating method.SOLUTION: A cage 10 has a traverse device 12 provided at a position shifted from the center in a storage direction X, a first platform 14A, and a second platform 14B. The first platform 14A closes a first opening 33 on the side where the traverse device 12 is not installed, out of two openings where a pallet 3 in the storage direction X is located and the pallet in a loading/unloading direction Y is not located. The second platform 14B closes a second opening 34 on the side where the traverse device is installed. The second platform 14B has a third opening 35 which does not interfere with the traverse device 12 in a plan view, and an upper opening/closing device 40 which can open/close the third opening.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 5 【課題】入出庫フロアにおける車両の入出庫方向と格納棚における車両の格納方向とが異なる場合でも、昇降旋回装置を入出庫フロアに設置してケージを軽量化することができ、かつ入出庫時に入出庫フロアを利用者が安全に歩行できるエレベータ式駐車装置とその運転方法を提供する。【解決手段】ケージ10が、中心から格納方向Xにずれた位置に設けられた横行装置12と、第1プラットホーム14Aと、第2プラットホーム14Bとを有する。第1プラットホーム14Aは、格納方向Xのパレット3が位置し入出庫方向Yのパレットが位置しない2つの開口のうち、横行装置12が設置されていない側の第1開口33を閉鎖する。第2プラットホーム14Bは、横行装置が設置されている側の第2開口34を閉鎖する。第2プラットホーム14Bは、平面視で横行装置12と干渉しない第3開口35と、第3開口を開閉可能な上部開閉装置40を有する。【選択図】図5
