Summary:To provide a wire having improved flexibility and low temperature bending properties, and a cable.SOLUTION: A wire has a conductor with a cross-sectional area of 225 mm2 or more and 275 mm2 or less, an insulator provided to cover the periphery of the conductor, and a wire sheath provided to cover the periphery of the insulator. The conductor has a slave stranded wire obtained by stranding 42 or more elemental wires with a diameter of 0.46 mm or less, and a master stranded wire obtained by stranding 37 or more of the stranded wires. The conductor has an outer diameter of 21.2 mm or more and 26.0 mm or less. The insulator and the wire sheath comprise a resin composition that contains a base resin containing chlorinated polyethylene with a chlorine content of 30% or more and 45% or less of 20 pts.wt. or more and 40 pts.wt. or less and an ethylene-vinyl acetate copolymer of 60 pts.wt. or more and 80 pts.wt. or less, with the total content of them being 100 pts.wt., and a flame retardant.
