The coin receiving device 100 includes an enclosure 1, an opening/closing member 3, a shutoff member 23, and a movement mechanism 5. The enclosure 1 has an opening 1a in which a coin is inserted. The opening/closing member 3 opens or closes the opening 1a. The shutoff member 23 enters a moving passage PT of the coin inserted through the opening 1a to shut off the moving passage PT. The movement mechanism 5 causes the shutoff member 23 to enter the moving passage PT of the coin in conjunction with closing of the opening 1a by the opening/closing member 3.
