To eliminate an abnormal state of a valuable medium processing device more efficiently.SOLUTION: A currency processing device 1 holds data indicating whether or not the device itself is subject to a maintenance service, and is communicably connected to a maintenance center server 80 provided outside a store. When detecting an abnormal state such as jamming or miscalculation of currency (S1), the currency processing device 1 confirms a contract to check whether or not the device itself is subject to the maintenance service (S2), and notifies an operator of the result when the device itself is subject to the maintenance service (S3). A function related to the abnormal state is limited to perform a degenerated operation (S4), and the maintenance center server 80 is notified of the occurrence of the abnormality (S5).
