Summary:To position a wire electrode to a proper processing start position with respect to a processed object supported by a table.SOLUTION: A wire electric discharge processing machine 10 includes: an upper wire guide 16 and a lower wire guide 18 supporting a wire electrode 14; a probe 32 provided at an upper guide block 20 in which the upper wire guide 16 is installed; an off-set storage part 46 which stores an offset amount from the upper wire guide 16 to the probe 32; a position displacement drive part 24 which displaces a relative position between a table 12 and the upper and lower wire guides 16, 18; a drive control part 40 which controls the position displacement drive part 24; a contact position calculation part 44 which calculates contact positions, positions of the probe 32 when the probe 32 contacts with a processed object; and a processing start position calculation part 48 which calculates a processing start position of the wire electrode 14 based on the at least two contact positions and the off-set amount.
