After that, the movement of the CIS unit 12 from the first position to a reading standby position is started, and while the CIS unit 12 moves from a second position to a third position, reading of the reference density plate 31 by the CIS unit 12 is performed n times. Then, in a correction data verification process, verification data Bi obtained by reading n times and the correction data A are compared, and the validity of the correction data A is verified.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 5 【課題】補正データの作成に必要な時間を短くしつつ、基準濃度板に付着したごみや汚れの影響が極力小さい補正データを得ることができる、読取装置を提供する。【解決手段】CISユニット12が第一位置に位置する状態において、光源21の光量調整およびその調整後の光量での基準濃度板31の読み取りが実施されて、シェーディング補正のための補正データAが作成される。その後、CISユニット12の第一位置から読取待機位置への移動が開始され、その途中、CISユニット12が第二位置から第三位置まで移動する間に、CISユニット12による基準濃度板31の読み取りがn回実施される。そして、補正データ検証処理では、n回の読み取りにより得られる検証用データBiと補正データAとが比較されて、補正データAの有効性が検証される。【選択図】図5
