To provide a torque wrench capable of suppressing over-torque.SOLUTION: A torque wrench includes: a wrench body which has a handle at one end side and a cylindrical part at the other end side; a head which has an engaging part engaged with a fastening object, whose one end side extending from the engaging part is inserted in the cylindrical part and is rotatably and pivotally supported; and a changeover mechanism which is installed inside the cylindrical part, is in a limit state that relative rotation of the wrench body with respect to the head is limited until fastening torque is beyond set torque as the handle rotates and is changed over to a release state releasing the limit when the fastening torque is over the set torque as the handle rotates. When the changeover mechanism is changed over to the release state, the wrench body relatively rotates with respect to the head, and the wrench body and the head are in contact with each other.
