Summary: | To provide a thermoplastic resin composition which is excellent in flowability, heat resistance and mechanical characteristics, and furthermore is excellent in heat resistance and mechanical characteristics after retained in melted condition.SOLUTION: A method for producing a thermoplastic resin composition is provided in which cyclic polyarylene sulfide (A) having a weight average molecular weight of 5,000 or less and a thermoplastic resin (B) other than the polyarylene sulfide is heated in the presence of an anion polymerization initiator (C) having a sulfide group, wherein (A) is contained in an amount of 1 pts.mass or more and 67 pts.mass or less and (C) is contained in an amount of 0.01 pts.mass or more and 10 pts.mass or less with respect to 100 pts.mass of (B), and the obtained thermoplastic resin composition has a single glass transition temperature.SELECTED DRAWING: None
