To activate a pit switch if there is a specific situation even when the emergency operation switch is ON in an emergency elevator.SOLUTION: An emergency elevator 1 comprises a control device 16 to control its motion, a pit switch 26 installed in a pit 25 and capable of switching the travel mode of a car 14, and a flood detection device 27 installed below the pit switch 26 in the pit 25 and to detect the presence of a flood. The car 14 stops at the position where an operator can enter the pit 25 and is controlled in the operating mode for a maintenance work when an emergency operation switch 24 is ON, and the control device 16 activates the pit switch 26 only when the control device determines that a hatch door 21 has been opened after the car is controlled to the operation mode for a maintenance work, and determines that a prescribed condition based on the detected result by the flood detection device 27 is satisfied.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1 【課題】非常用エレベーターにおいて、非常運転スイッチがＯＮになっている場合でも、特定の状況であればピットスイッチを有効化する。【解決手段】非常用エレベーター１は、その動作を制御する制御装置１６と、ピット２５に設置され、乗りかご１４の移動モードを切替可能なピットスイッチ２６と、ピット２５においてピットスイッチ２６よりも下方に設置され、浸水の有無を検出する浸水検出装置２７と、を備える。そして、非常運転スイッチ２４がＯＮであるとき、制御装置１６は、乗りかご１４が作業者によるピット２５への侵入が可能な位置で停止しており、保守作業用の運転モードに制御されており、保守作業用の運転モードに制御されてからハッチドア２１が開いたことがあると判断し、かつ、浸水検出装置２７による検出結果に基づく所定条件が満たされていると判断した場合にのみ、ピットスイッチ２６を有効にする。【選択図】図１
