Summary:To provide a projection type video display device in which quality at a seam of multi-screen projection is improved.SOLUTION: A projection type video display device includes a video input unit, a light source, a display element, a projection optical system, and a variable light control function that changes an amount of light to enter the display element. The projection type video display device has a plurality of display modes using the variable light control function, and one display mode of the plurality of display modes can be selected from a menu screen. The display mode for a display video using the variable light control function includes a first display mode to display an input video which is input from an external device while the amount of light control is changed in accordance with light control information that can control the variable light control function of a projected video, and a second display mode to display the input video while the amount of light control is changed in accordance with the input video.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1 【課題】マルチ画面投影の繋ぎ目の品位を向上させる投射型映像表示装置を提供する。【解決手段】投射型映像表示装置は、映像入力部と、光源と、表示素子と、投射光学系と、表示素子に入射する光量を変更する可変調光機能と、を備える。可変調光機能を用いた表示モードを複数備え、複数の表示モードのうち一つの表示モードをメニュー画面から選択可能である。そして、可変調光機能を用いた表示映像の表示モードには、外部機器から入力される、投射映像の可変調光機能を制御可能な調光制御情報に応じて調光量を変更しながら入力映像を表示する第１の表示モードと、入力映像に応じて調光量を変更しながら入力映像を表示する第２の表示モードと、がある。【選択図】図１
