Summary:To provide a card reader capable of preventing a biometric authentication sensor from being removed from a front cover even though a user's finger is pressed to a detection surface of the biometric authentication sensor such as a fingerprint sensor attached to the front cover with prescribed pressing force.SOLUTION: This card reader includes a front cover 6 in which an insertion slot 3 for a card 2 is formed, and a biometric authentication sensor 8 for acquiring user's biometric authentication data from a user's fingertip. The biometric authentication sensor 8 is attached to the front cover 6 such that a detection surface of the biometric authentication sensor 8 is exposed on a top surface of the front cover 6.
