To provide a projection display device which can prevent activation time from increasing after a projection lens is exchanged.SOLUTION: A projection display device has an exchangeable projection lens for projecting an image to a projection target surface, and includes: an exchange detection unit for detecting an exchange of the projection lens; and a control unit for determining a setting when the projection display device is waiting, to be a first setting, in which electric power can be supplied to the projection lens, or a second setting, in which the power consumption is lower than that in the first setting.
