To provide a sheet carrier and image forming apparatus capable of returning an abutment member to an abutment position at an end of feed operation.SOLUTION: A sheet carrier is configured comprising feeding means that feeds a sheet, an abutment member against which a tip in a feeding direction of the sheet abuts, a movement regulation member that locks the abutment member and regulates the abutment member from moving from an abutment position where it abuts against the sheet, and a moving mechanism that moves the movement regulation member to a locking position where the abutment member is locked and to an unlocking position where locking is canceled, so that the abutment member tends to take an abutment position due to the force of gravity or an energization force of energizing means.
