Summary:To provide a liquid crystal display device capable of suppressing degradation in image quality due to disclination and achieving higher resolution by a pixel shift.SOLUTION: The liquid crystal display device includes: drive means to vary the transmittance or reflectance for light from a light source in each pixel by controlling an application time of a predetermined ON voltage/OFF voltage based on a gradation value of an image after application of a gradation conversion process to each pixel of a liquid crystal element; pixel shift image creation means to create a plurality of pixel shift images from an input image to give a time-division output; pixel shift means capable of shifting modulated light in a predetermined direction to display; gradation conversion means for applying a gradation conversion process of multiplying different gain coefficients to temporally continuous frame image data; and spatial frequency calculation means to calculate a spatial frequency from the pixel shift image.
