Summary:To set a gate resistance to an appropriate resistance value with a simple structure.SOLUTION: A switching device comprises: a switching transistor; a resistance unit; a switching control unit; a target value acquisition unit; a calculation unit; and a resistance value setting unit. The gate resistance unit contains a first resistance and a second resistance which have changeable resistance values. The switching control unit connects the first resistance between an input terminal and a gate in a first period, which is a first half of a turn-off period, and connects the second resistance between the input terminal and the gate in a second period, which is a last half of the turn-off period. The calculation unit calculates a first gate resistance value on the basis of a target voltage rising speed and a first operational expression, and calculates a second gate resistance value on the basis of a permission maximum voltage value and a second operational expression.
