Summary: | To provide a premature birth risk determination method capable of determining premature birth risk earlier and at lower galectin-3 concentrations than previously reported.SOLUTION: In the premature birth risk determination method, when defining, in blood, plasma or serum, the lower limit of the concentration of galectin-3 as 7 ng/ml and the upper limit as 13 ng/ml, the galectin-3 concentration of blood, plasma, or serum samples collected from a pregnant human woman from gestational age 22 weeks and 0 days to 33 weeks and 6 days is measured; when the galectin-3 concentration falls within a range of caution that is not less than the lower limit and less than the upper limit, it is determined that there is a risk of premature birth.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 2
